SPECIALIZED IN Dry Underground Utilities

Our expertise in dry utilities encompasses a wide range of services, from electrical and gas lines to telecommunications. We specialize in the installation, maintenance, and expansion of these essential systems, ensuring seamless connectivity for communities and businesses.

  • DRY UNDERGROUND UTILITIES - ELECTRIC

Andale Construction, Inc. has worked with major electrical contractors and power companies in Arizona. We conduct primary section replacements as well as emergency cable replacements for SRP and APS. We conduct open trench installations and HDD operations in locations where it’s more feasible to bore in the conduits to eliminate R-O-W disturbance or traffic buildup. Traffic signal electrical conduit crossings have been a specialty scope of work for ACI, which has had to install many work operations for the City of Phoenix and ADOT (Arizona Department of Transportation).

  • Dry Underground Utilities - Gas

Working with natural gas mains or services, we only conduct open-trenching and prepare the trench for the gas inspector to approve the bedding and depth. Once approved, a gas company crew comes and installs the pipe, then notifies ACI to complete the operation of backfill and compaction to testing specifications.

  • Dry Underground Utilities - Telecommunications

ACI participates in many telecom projects, ranging from Longhaul F/O Builds, City Rings, and lateral placements of Fiber optic and coax cables. We specialize in maximizing production in these settings and can deliver when our competitors are limited in productivity. ACI is willing to do whatever it takes to keep the project on schedule and on budget. Our track record of working in the Phoenix Valley has shown that ACI is a quality construction company that is ready to deliver.

  • Horizontal Directional Drilling

The directional drilling method makes drilling underneath industrial complexes possible. The spectrum of application includes all pipe construction measures within the bounds of gas, district chiller pipelines, and drinking water supply, the installation of pressure lines for sewers, as well as cable protection pipes for television or telephone cables, traffic routing systems, emergency call boxes, and low, medium, high, and optical fiber cables. The HDD method is protective of the environment, causing no ecological damage at all. Minimal damage to the area is only caused within the vicinity of the unit. Several reasons also speak for the application of the directional technique in central town areas. These mainly concern the construction costs, construction periods, permission procedures, soil movement, surface restoration, and traffic compared to open trenching methods.

A well-planned HDD operation includes a preliminary survey of the bore path area concerning other existing external lines (utilities) and the soil condition. The choice of the drilling unit depends upon the bore length, the diameter of the pipe to be installed, and the soil classification.

  • Gateway Airport Mesa

EMBRAER Exec. Jet Center Williams Gateway Airport Mesa, AZ General Contractor DF Chase Inc. Nashville, TN

Work operations: Domestic Water, Sanitary Sewer systems, Storm drains, and Fire Service lines

    Contract Amount: $ 350,000.00

Working for DF Chase, Inc., of Nashville, Tennessee, was a very enjoyable experience. The management staff was very professional, and the client, Embraer Executive Jets, was very straight-forward with their goals. ACI convinced DF Chase, Inc., to give us an opportunity to demonstrate our abilities. We exceeded their expectations and showcased the quality workmanship ACI has to offer the industry. The work operations consisted of a variety of tasks, and we stood true to our agreements. We just sent out a letter of warranty that had expired in August 2009 for the one year of responsibilities we accepted as the subcontractor of choice for all the underground utilities. “Never have we had to go out to the site to check on any of our work." Testimony of quality.

  • Trenchless Technology

HDD (Horizontal Directional drilling) “Trenchless Technology”

Our drill division works throughout Arizona, addressing installations of a variety of product types. Some include Cable installations, HDPE, PVC, and Steel casings. To be successful, we must become very familiar with the ground conditions and surroundings involved. Our parameters with our HDD machines are: A) Distance: 500 LF; B) Product size: up to 24” depending on soil conditions and length.

ACI works with the underground community in Arizona. The large number of repeat customers serves as a barometer for our success. We target all projects as “repeat clients”.

    Contract amount: $ 488,000

This project consisted of addressing large sizes of Storm Drain pipe (diameters of 24” to 36”). We installed many catch basins, which were poured in place together with the manholes. A guard shack facility was constructed by others, and ACI provided the Sanitary Sewer and water installations. There were many water services to be removed and Fire service lines to be installed. Working with Kiewit was a great experience and a pleasure to showcase ACI’s commitment to Safety, Quality workmanship, and professionalism.

  • City of Phoenix

Valley Metro Light Rail Park and Ride No. 3, and 4 City of Phoenix

Work Operations: Water distribution extension and storm drainage facilities MRM Construction Services, General

    Contractor: contract amount of $230,000.00

Andale Construction, Inc. worked very closely with other work operations going on at the same time. We find that communicating and working together with project participants is rewarding. We typically share common goals to provide quality service and work in safe work zones. Working on two park-and-ride locations for MRM Construction Services was a very good assignment for ACI. We were able to complete the Washington and 38th Street PR and move onto the other PR on Camelback near Central. We installed Storm Drainage facilities and addressed 8” VCP Sanitary sewer Removals and Manhole Installations on the project at Camelback Rd.

  • Don Mensendick Elementary

    Don Mensendick Elementary, Glendale, AZ

    McCarthy Builders General Contractor

Work Operations: Sanitary Sewer, Domestic Water, Fire Service Lines, and Irrigation Facilities

    Contract amount: $ 367,162

Don Mensendick Elementary School (City of Glendale, AZ) was a time-sensitive project. We had to leave sections of work incomplete due to the school schedule and address some of those work operations during school holiday breaks. Then return and accelerate the production schedule to meet the project timelines to allow the children to return to their classrooms. ACI addressed all underground utility work associated with McCarthy’s building of a new 2-story, large, added class room building. McCarthy Builders was very impressed with our services and work ethic on and around the school grounds.

Arizona's Minority Contractor of the Year Award

In June 2008, the Arizona Minority Business Enterprise Center (AMBEC) awarded Andale Construction Inc. a prestigious award: Arizona's Minority Contractor of the Year. We credit this achievement to our clients because they have given us the opportunity to showcase our experience and work ethic.

The U.S. Department of Commerce's Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA) provides funding for AMBEC's operation through the Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Foundation.

    ADOT

    Arizona Department of Transportation 2009

The opportunity to represent our ADOT DBE program as the Contractor of the Year is a great honor.

We’ve had the great pleasure of working with our DBE community. It has provided a great sense of teamwork, and it has helped us collectively learn business development practices. ACI would like to thank Mr. Edward Edison and the entire Civil Rights staff for their commitment and dedication to bringing training, education, and special skills to all DBE’s in our community. Preparing a company to work with General Contractors and prime contractors within the ADOT procurement guidelines is the target we all should be preparing for or have already prepared for. Prioritize to address your AFR’s (Administration, Finances, and Resources), and when called upon to perform, you are ready, willing, and able to TCOB (Take Care of Business).

In closing, I encourage all those certified as DBE’s to participate and get involved in making these programs successful, even in these difficult economic times. Change can only happen if we “Make it happen."

UNCOVERING INNOVATIVE WET UTILITIES SOLUTIONS

When it comes to wet utilities, ADI excels in providing water and sewer solutions that meet the highest standards of quality and sustainability. Our experienced team ensures efficient water distribution and wastewater management.

  • Wet Underground Utilities - Sanitary Sewer Mains

ACI is known for its quality installations of Sanitary Sewer systems. These systems' installations are commonly at greater depths relative to other utilities. Consequently, it is important to perform the work correctly the first time. It avoids repeating work that may not pass the testing process prior to going into operational stages.

  • Wet Underground Utilities - Storm Sewer Mains

We work on the installation of Storm Drainage systems on public R-O-W and private properties. We address work operations with a safe and professional approach. We consider all surroundings involved in our scope of work. From the project's commencement to completion, we address punch list items and testing to be conducted with proper confirmation.

  • Wet Underground Utilities - Potable Water Systems

Addressing the installation of domestic potable water facilities is very important and should be conducted in such a manner that the systems are constructed in conformance with the American Water Works Association (AWWA). The connections and thrust points are vital to the security of the public and the environment. Proper handling and chlorination of materials must be respected. Pressure testing and good compaction are aspects of constructing a quality domestic water distribution facility. Water is a major resource for all life. As such, it must be protected and preserved as an asset to good living. ACI builds infrastructure as if it owns it. We warranty our work for the standard one year under state law. If clients request more warranty period, ACI can accommodate.

GUARANTEEING SAFETY IS OUR ULTIMATE PRIORITY

Safety is at the heart of everything we do. We prioritize the well-being of our team and the community. Our rigorous safety protocols ensure that every project is completed without incident, and we're proud of our record of zero on-site accidents.

  • Safety Statement

    STP: Safety Top Priorit

ACI prioritizes safety at the top of its list. Safety is part of our foundation.

Having 32+ years of experience in the construction industry has given me a clear understanding of the key ingredients to success. General contractors that work with subcontractors should be familiar with them in ways that demonstrate compatibility. Both should share relevant information that would add reliability to the services provided. We understand what general contractors are seeking:

    1) They need to know who they are doing business with.

    2) They need to trust who they are doing business with.

It is why today's subcontractors must provide full company information at the time of pre-qualification. Three aspects need to be evaluated: a) Safety; B) Financials; and c) Resources—all three items need to be in line to demonstrate or showcase a good subcontractor. To ACI, Safety is and will always be #1. We take great pride in providing training in the fields of:

    • First Aid: CPR Certification

    • Operators Equipment Certification

    • Confined Space certification

    • Dust Control: Safe Driving practices

  • EMOD Rating

    Safety Record '08

When ACI started, we did not have an EMOD rating in place. After one year in business, we achieved this rating. But we knew our EMOD rating would be representative of how ACI conducts business. In our first year in business, we had zero incidents and zero time-loss accidents. Zero traffic incidents, and we constantly reminded our employees of these concerns. Our first EMOD rating was 0.92 for 2007.

    Safety Record '09

Our EMOD rating for 2008 was 0.90, and as of July 2009, it had dropped to 0.82. We take great pride in seeking to achieve EMOD even at a lower rating, knowing our employees and R-O-W work zones are in a safe environment. Another component of safety is our communications protocol to assure first responders that they have the ability to make a difference in a situation that may require the safety application of rescue.
